Artist’s Bio — Ms. Linda Roberts
Ms. Roberts earned her BA in Fine Arts from Cal State University Hayward where her focus was drawing under the mentorship of Corban Lepell. While at CSUHayward she learned the craft of papermaking. Her papermaking pieces, commissioned by Disney, were on display and for sale on Main St. in Disneyland in Anaheim Ca. Ms. Roberts’ papermaking was also available for purchase at the Smithsonian Museum Shop in Washington D.C. and featured in the publication “Victoria.”
All forms of art have been an integral part of Ms. Roberts’ life. She has been an advocate for Art and Music in schools for the past 14 years.
She worked in the radio industry, on and off air, for 20 years. She was formerly an on-air personality and Program Director of KTEE "The Tee." in Monterey CA. Utilizing her access to the broadcast airwaves she advocated to promote local resuce organizations and The Monterey BAy Aquarium. While on the air at KATD (The Kat) in Los Gatos, CA, Linda was known as "the dog lady". When a listener would call in about a lost dog she would consider this to be a Public Service Announcement requirement and would then broadcast the lost pet information.
Ms. Roberts is also an advocate for rescue animals. The SPCA is on speed dial...She has had 9 dogs, 5 cats, 4 birds, and numerous fish in her lifetime. (so far...)
It was after her dog Bear passed away in 2002 that she wished to have something to hold close to her to cope with this loss. She is forever grateful to her dear friend, and veterinarian, Dr. Terry Spencer who helped with Bear's passing, and made a clay imprint of Bear's paw to help Linda with her grief and deep sense of loss.
Combining her love for artistic expression and her passion for animals, Pawprints Jewelry™ was born in 2005. Linda developed the entire process. Her deep desire to have something of Bear to hold on to inspired Linda to create the customized pendants to be a unique pet keepsake for loved ones who consider their pet to be a member of the family.
This past year -February 2008 - Ms. Roberts was the front passenger in a head-on car collision. That evening of the accident she was wearing Bear's paw pendant. She spent 3 hours strapped to the emergency board unable to move, but they did allow her to hold on to Bear's paw that night.
